| Notices for all Parents As we hopefully enter a continued period of hot weather we are once again adopting a Summer uniform. To increase comfort and to retain a focus on learning in the hot weather students do not have to wear their blue sweatshirt. It is important the sweatshirt is not replaced with cardigans / coats / etc. I would also like to remind parents that jeans and trainers are not appropriate. The uniform for Sixth Form students is as follows Male StudentsBlack/Grey Trousers, white shirt with Sixth Form tie, navy jumper with Sixth Form logo, black/brown shoes. Rawlett has produced a successful School Travel Plan to ensure students are safe and healthy as they travel to college. The car park is extremely busy and to ensure student safety parents are reminded that they should not enter the college site unless it is essential. Students who are driven to college can be safely dropped off in Gillway Lane and this also provides an opportunity for them to walk the last stage and get a little exercise! College buses will continue to enter and exit the car park as normal.

Introduction to Rawlett Community Sports College As I have explained to all staff and students at Rawlett Community Sports College I feel I am the luckiest person in Tamworth at the moment. I am privileged and excited to be joining the College at this stage of its development and am proud to be leading such a dedicated team of staff. The positive environment drew me to the school and I am keen to further this community spirit.
Educated at Glascote Comprehensive School (latterly Torc) and with family across the town I feel I have a good understanding of our learners. I started my teaching career at Woodhouse before moving to Birmingham. However the pull of Tamworth lured me back to three successful years at QEMS. I worked in Wolverhampton before I was once again drawn back to Tamworth.
Anyone walking around the College cannot fail to notice the warm and productive learning environment. This year the College has achieved the best results in the history of the school with many students exceeding their personal targets. This academic success has been alongside a more personalised curriculum and our continued focus on learning, standards and the needs of individuals.
I believe that schools provide the foundations for life long learning and that we all continue to learn until the day we die! It is our job to work with parents and the community to ensure students have the skills to be successful learners and achieve their true potential in life. Students need to learn how to learn, how their brain works and have the support to ensure they achieve both academically and socially. The Rawlett community has proven they are able to provide this support and challenge to achieve success. A school is much more than academic success and we have recently been awarded International School status to reflect our commitment to enrichment. Our sports facilities continue to develop with the construction of a FA quality astroturf and leisure centre to support the whole community. I am passionate that the school environment must support the community it serves. With all these developments and the tremendous potential within the school – who would deny that I am the luckiest person in Tamworth at the moment and that Rawlett is in a fantastic position for future years Mr T Bassett |
